Intertextuality is the way in which media text influences reflect, or differ each other. A primary case in point of this would be the show Atlanta an American comedy-drama television series about two cousins navigating their way in the Atlanta rap scene in an effort to improve their lives and the lives of their families. Created by and featuring Donald Glover an American actor, writer, producer, director, comedian, rapper, singer, and songwriter. The show then recognised for its comedy and drama, winning prestigious awards such as golden globes for ‘Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy’ and ‘Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy’. During Donald Glover’s acceptance speech, he said, “I’d like to thank the Migos—not for being on the show, but for making ‘Bad and Boujee.’ Like, that’s the best song… ever.” He also thanked the city of Atlanta. The next day, Billboard announced, “Migos – Bad and Boujee Ft. Lil Uzi Vert”, dethroned Rae Sremmurd’s “Black Beatles” for the No. 1 spot on the Hot 100. Not only did the rap group go up in the music charts but also Migos saw a significant spike in following and seeing over 37,000 Twitter mentions during which the Atlanta trio got a shout out from Donald Glover.

Occasionally known as no more bullying), was also their first standalone single after splitting from Idol band Sakura Gakuin. In British media, Babymetal are (really) only portrayed online, with major news networks and print media (Apart from genre specific (Rock) magazines (Kerrang) and TV channels (Kerrang again) shining some light on them) barely showing any news or info on them. As the creators of the Kawaii-Rock genre, I have to say that they follow all codes and conventions, as they are the ones who set them. Imagine someone designed a tube map that instead of stations such Camden Town (Northern Line) and Finsbury Park (Piccadilly/Victoria), you had artists such as Public Enemy (Hip-Hop) and (Funk/Blues)?
Well, a person by the name of Dorian Lynskey did just this. Have a look at the image, did you know about all these genres already? Do you agree with how some artists have been categorised?
